German Family Association

The DFV Berlin stands up for the rights of families in Berlin. It works together with other Berlin-wide family associations in the Working Group of Family Associations (AGF). Our guiding principle: families should not be worse off because of their children than childless fellow citizens.

What we do

The DFV Berlin provides practical social counselling and educational services to help families cope with life’s challenges. All families living in Berlin are welcome, regardless of origin or social class.

  • Debt and insolvency counselling: free, confidential advice at four locations across Berlin.
  • Family education: courses for parents and children, from baby massage to offers for the whole family.
  • Family recreation: help with planning family holidays, group trips, and travel grants for Berlin families.
  • Health cure counselling: guidance on mother and child or father and child health cures.

How we work

We act in a holistic and lifeworld-orientated manner. Our aim is to empower our clients and participants to lead a self-determined and independent life. In doing so, we are able to respond flexibly and in a multi-professional manner to a wide range of needs with our support services. The professionalism of our appropriately trained staff is guaranteed through teamwork and regular training. We also work in various networks in order to achieve common goals more effectively.

The DFV Berlin ensures the further development of its quality management system (QMS) as part of its membership of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband Berlin.

Newsletter

At least twice a year, we inform all interested parties and members about our educational, recreational and counselling services in a newsletter.
